Soft Shell Crab Recipe

  • 4 soft shell crabs, cleaned
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the seasoning mixture:

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Prepare the crabs: Rinse the soft shell crabs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Remove the gills and trim any excess shell.
  2. Season the flour: In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  3. Dredge the crabs: Dredge each crab in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess flour.
  4. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the crabs: Carefully place the crabs in the hot oil, shell side down. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Make the seasoning mixture: While the crabs are frying, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve: Remove the fried crabs from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Drizzle the garlic butter mixture over the crabs before serving.
  8. Garnish: Garnish with additional chopped parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
  9. Enjoy: Serve the soft shell crabs immediately while they are still hot and crispy. Enjoy your delicious Soft Shell Crab!

Note: Soft shell crabs are best enjoyed fresh and hot. Be sure not to overcrowd the skillet when frying to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
